There’s a lot of confusion about the ins and outs of legal professionals and their duties. Most people only know two types of legal professionals: lawyers and judges. While “judge” may be self-explanatory, “lawyer: is a loose term. What do people mean when the use the term lawyer?
Lawyer applies to many different types of attorneys. There’s so much confusion that even lawyers sometimes confuse terms. A litigator tends to be the person that most people think of when they hear the word “lawyer.” There are so many different jobs required to manage a case from start to finish.
In specific, a litigator advocates on behalf of their client to the best of their ability. Once an investigation has begun, which is usually how most cases begin; a litigator leads the team of professionals that gather information impertinent to the case.

Now, for some, there’s a difference between a litigator and a trial lawyer. Some would say that trial lawyers are the ones that actually argue in court. Although that is technically true, most litigators are trial lawyers, so that point is moot. Once the facts are known, litigators incorporate those facts in the hopes of swaying the judge or jury to their favor.
Litigators, like Karl Heideck, spend years preparing to take the Bar Exam. Every state has its own requirements to take be expected into the Bar, but most require the same thing. Litigators usually start out as researchers or just observing experienced litigators. The actual duties of a litigator depend on the size of the firm that employees them.
